Food Focus - April 2024 - Ham Bone Soup for the Slow Cooker

 
My grandpa used to make ham bone soup when I was little. I never wanted to try it, but one day when I was much older I finally had some and thought it was one of the best soups I’ve ever had. I’ve never been able to recapture what he did, but I’ve found versions I think he would approve of, such as this one, which is loaded with vegetables (we added peas). What makes this recipe even better is that you can put it all in the slow cooker and still get that deep flavor of an all-day stovetop soup.
